Oscar Flub: One of the biggest hiccups in award show history was when Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway announced the wrong winner for best film of the year. Instead of announcing “Moonlight”, they said “La La Land”. Chaos broke out as the award show producers worked to fix the mistake.
Beyoncé and Jay Z Became Parents — Again: On June 13th, Bey and Jay became parents for a second time to twins Rumi and Sir. They were born premature and had to stay in the hospital for a little while after being born.
George Clooney and Amal Clooney Become Parents: The actor and his wife became parents for the first time to twins Ella and Alexander Clooney.
The Weinstein Scandal: Several women spoke out against Harvey and accused him of sexual harassment and assault. Actresses including, Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ashley Judd, Lupita Nyong’o and more said they were victims of unwanted advances.
Kathy Griffin Under Fire: In late May, comedian Kathy Griffin posted a photo of herself holding a bloody mask that looked like the head of Donald Trump. She caught a lot of backlash afterwards. She was fired from her New Year’s Eve hosting duties on CNN and had a lot of her tour dates canceled.
Janet Jackson Had a Baby and Filed For Divorce: 2017 was a life changing year for Ms. Jackson. She had a baby on January 3rd and by April filed for a divorce from her husband of 5 years.
