It’s hard to find the right words to describe this year. There have been so many difficult moments, divisions within our community — and the world at large — and the ongoing challenge of staying engaged and active when the daily news isn’t always uplifting has been hard work (but it’s work we will continue to do). But I am continually inspired and motivated by the work being done within this wise and wonderful creative community. So before we head out for the holiday break, I wanted to focus on just some of the ways we all came together to give back this year. As a community we:
So many designers, artists and creatives came together to use their skills, knowledge, resources and talents to support each other and those in need in big and small ways, and those moments are the ones I plan to focus on over the break to get ready for the year ahead.
Normally at the end of each year we sign off and say goodbye until after New Year’s Day, but this year we’re doing something different. Over the past few weeks I went through all of the posts we shared at Design*Sponge this year and selected 100 of my favorite to share over the holiday break. From interior trends and moving essays to DIYs, downloads and floral projects, these “Best of 2017” posts will start next Monday and run twice a day until we’re back with brand-new content on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2018. I hope these posts will inspire something fun over your holiday break, whether it’s a new recipe to try or a home with DIY ideas you can test out.
