Let’s Dance + Best of the Web

I don’t know about you, but it’s been a week. Between the ever-present and dramatic news updates, special elections, and life coming at us from all directions (including learning a very important lesson online), I need a little bit of levity to round out the week. Something to lift my spirits and bring in a little light. And for me, that is always dance. Nothing makes me feel lighter and more alive than cranking up a fun song, pushing my work aside, and taking a break to dance around (and sing at the top of my lungs) with the dogs jumping up and down next to me. So today I’m sharing one of my favorite short dance routines featuring Fredy Kosman and Koharu Suguwara (my favorite contemporary choreographer). Whether you’re dancing to Madonna or N.E.R.D and Rihanna or Bomba Estéreo, I hope you find a tune that works for you. Just turn the volume up and shake some of the week’s stress away. Until Monday, here are some more great things to keep your heart full and your creative side inspired. xo, Grace

Step inside one of the dreamiest hotels in Paris, the Hôtel Providence.

I’d never heard the term “soft industrial” before, but if this kitchen is any indication, I love this style.

Meet the coziest (and sunniest) reading nook in Berkeley. We’ll all take turns asking if we can stop by to read here.

If you’re not yet familiar with the writing (and all-around wisdom) of Luvvie Ajayi, her TED talk about being comfortable with being uncomfortable is a must-watch.

The most delicious apple pie recipe for the holidays — or really any other day.

We’ve seen a lot of live/work spaces, but this traveling bus takes the cake.

I’m totally into a lip gloss with a really gross name. So ignore the name and embrace the glitter for holiday season.

We love all the woodworking details in this 1911 Craftsman home in British Columbia.

I love reading about all the ways the design community can give back. Anne Sage’s room makeover for Covenant House in LA is a great example.

Because it’s really cold in New York right now, here are some beautiful beach houses in Australia, where it’s currently much warmer.

I love this design studio’s painted exterior. I can never resist a great mural or hand-painted pattern on a commercial space. It really brings any building to life.

It’s that time of year — cuddle up with some of our favorite cozy cabins.

Speaking of cabins, this modern makeover in the Catskills brings a huge dose of city style to the forest.
