Samsung updates the Notebook 7 Spin with faster processors and stylus support

Samsung released the original Notebook 7 Spin back in 2016, and while it didn’t exactly make waves when it came to design, it at least offered plenty of power at an affordable price. And ahead of CES this year, Samsung is announcing an updated version of the Notebook 7 Spin that adds a quad-core eight-gen Intel Core i5 processor and support for an Active Pen stylus, while also cutting down on the weight for a lighter design.

Like the first generation Notebook 7 Spin, the updated model also offers a 360-degree rotating display — with the added stylus support, the ability to turn it into a tablet becomes a lot more useful. Although it should be noted that Samsung is selling the Active Pen separately. Along with the more powerful processor, Samsung has also added a fingerprint reader to the Notebook 7 Spin, which supports Windows Hello for quick log-ins.

The rest of the specs for the Notebook 7 Spin are pretty standard: 8GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD, and one port each for USB-C, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, and HDMI. Unlike the original model, which offered both a 15-inch and 13-inch size, Samsung is only offering a 13-inch model this year, with features a fairly lackluster 1080p resolution. Rounding out the hardware are a backlit keyboard and Windows Precision Trackpad, which are both nice to see even on a more mid-range model like this.

The Notebook 7 Spin will be available later this year, although no price or firm release window has been announced yet.
