The Best Halloweekend Drink

Hey everyone! It’s Tieghan from Half Baked Harvest. I’m back again today to share yet another recipe that’s perfect for autumn.

Earlier this week I shared one of my favorite healthy instant pot soup recipes (have you made it yet, it’s the best). Today I’m sharing a fun cocktail that’s so easy, and perfectly warming for the fall and winter nights ahead.

If there’s one thing I really love during this time of year, it’s a seasonal inspired drink. With the holidays quickly approaching, and Halloween being next week, I’m always looking for great cocktails that are easy to mix up on a moment’s notice. Enter this fall inspired Dark and Stormy. Made with apple cider, dark rum, a squeeze of fresh lime and ginger kombucha. It’s all things fall and incredibly delicious. Just a little sweet, with apple and cinnamon flavors throughout, and a good kick of sparkles from the gingery kombucha. It’s warming and cozy, and the perfect cocktail to make, today, tomorrow, or for any of your upcoming holiday parties.

It’s also incredibly easy to make. Here’s how we do it.

Combine fresh apple cider (one of my favorite cocktail mixers during the fall), dark rum (use the good stuff), and lime juice. Give that all a mix. Now add ice and top the drink off with ginger kombucha (you could also use ginger beer).

Easy right? This drink takes maybe five minutes to make. It also uses ingredients you hopefully have on hand (because everyone should have a well-stocked bar at home). It’s classy, pretty, so refreshing, really delicious, and super cozy. Oh, and I love that this is a cocktail that feels slightly healthier than most. With zero added sugars, and kombucha instead of a sugar syrup or soda. Not only is kombucha a good source of gut-healthy probiotics, but the ginger in the kombucha helps aid digestion. Perfect for all of the Halloween candy overeaters out there…

One of my favorite things to do is serve cocktails up in fancy glasses. Currently, I’m loving these classic crystal glasses. They feel elegant and give off that “old Hollywood glamour” vibe.

Could not love this one more, and I’m excited to mix this up for Halloween next week. It’s the perfect moody cocktail to celebrate with.

Prep Time: 5 minutes Total Time: 5 minutes Makes: 1 drink

3 ounces apple cider 3 ounces ginger kombucha or ginger beer 2 ounces dark rum juice of 1/2 a lime apple slices and cinnamon sticks, for serving

In a cocktail glass, combine the apple cider, dark rum, and lime juice. Add ice and then top the drink off with ginger kombucha. Garnish with apple wedges and cinnamon sticks.

Hope you all enjoy!

PS. if you’re looking for more holiday cocktails to celebrate with this season, check out our holiday cocktail post from last year that’s full of festive and healthy drinks. ??
